Cortex-A17 RockChip RK3288 Quad-Core released

In the USA Las Vegas 2014CES meeting, RockChip released the brand new generation quad-core chipset CPU and named RK3288. This CPU is the first quad-core Cortex-A17 program core, the first chipset supports latest Mali-T76x series GPU and the first chipset supports 4K x 2K H.265 hardware decoding from RockChip. RK3288 would be mainly used on mobile internet termial devices such as tablet computers, smart TV and so on.

1. The first quad-core Cortex-A17 program
Similar with Cortex-A15, from AGU, multi issue etc special design, the performance of Cortex-A17 is greatly improved. According to the data, under the same frequency, Cortex-A17 can have 40% performance improved than Cortex-A9 in single-threaded. With 1.8GHz high processor speed, RK3288 has 50% performance improved compared with last generation RK3188!

2. The first supports Mali-T76x series GPU
Mali T764 core GPU uses the 3rd generation Midgard program. The 3rd generation Midgard is well designed compared with last generation Midgard used on T62x/T65x GPU. The Mali T764 GPU used on RK3288 can have 82 GFLOPS, 2400M pixel/s very good performance!

3. The first supports 4K x 2K hardware decoding H.265 chipset
As the more efficient HD compression format, H.265 standard becomes the important staff for those videos websites. Under the same quality video, H.265 cost less broadband compared with H.264. RockChip RK3288 is the ARM chipset supports H.265 decoding. It supports 4K HD videos output and play!
